Paths

The Way of the Soul

DESCRIPTION: The abuse of reason by the intellect is the spoor left by the soul on its downward path. The eighth of thirteen pages on Paths (one of the Field Nodes comprising the subject tree of The Telson Spur), this page is the first of three comprising a list of links to on-line resources for the study of intellectual deceit, which is pseudoscience in retrospect. The coordinate pages, with a common header and List of Contents, contain links to other resources for the study of malignant belief systems, or oncomemes (Hate, Anger, and Intolerance), and to resources for the study and practice of Religion.

KEYWORDS: antiscience; belief; cognitive dissonance; counterknowledge; denialism; gullibility; ideological pathology; ignorance; intellectual deceit; misology; oncomeme; pseudoscience; stupidity

To believe, in the guise of religious faith, what is, on scientific or philosophical grounds, factually untrue is to be supersitious. Superstition is a counterfeit of religion and a perversion of it.

Mortimer J. Adler

The perversion of faith and the eclipse of reason alike begin with the denial of doubt; but the salvation of the soul and the way to peace begin with its acceptance.

Pippin of Vesuvius

The radical novelty in modern science lies precisely in the rejection of the belief, which is at the heart of all popular religion, that the forces which move the stars and atoms are contingent upon the preferences of the human heart.
Walter Lippmann

Science is a way of trying not to fool yourself.
Richard P. Feynmann

There's a sucker born every minute.
David Hannum

The enemy of knowledge and science is irrationalism, not religion.
