We decided on the number of
thrusters we will use on this vehicle. Including The Sucker,
there will be 11 motors. There will be four z-axis (up and down)
thrusters, four x-y-axis (left, right, forwards, and backwards)
thrusters and three Sucker thrusters. With this configuration
the ROV should spin on a dime—an important feature when
we are inside the Titanic.
Here is what our tether will be composed
of: about six copper clad aluminum (CCA) wires to conduct power
into the termination can; four channels of R/C telemetry to
travel between the controller and the termination can via a
skinny RG-173 coaxial cable; and two other coaxial cables to
transmit video signals from the two video cameras (one colour
and one black and white).
