When we tested our modified Sucker, we
found that it had half the power of our original mock-up. After
reviewing the differences between the two, we found that the
new Sucker had a larger throat than the old mock-up.
To reduce the throat size we installed
a Plexiglas and syntactic foam liner under the top of the Sucker.
We angled the bottom side of the liner to 45 degrees. We also
rounded the liner’s top to fit more snugly into the Sucker’s
top. After positioning the liner in the Sucker, we screwed it
down and tested it. It worked perfectly, pulling in C-probes
with power to spare!
