About 75 million years ago, a young Albertosaurus
died. In 1991, in Albertas Dinosaur Provincial Park, someone
noticed one of the dinosaurs bones poking up out of the ground.
Albertosaurus: Death of a Predator tells the story of how
this dinosaurs skeleton was found and excavated. It also tells
the story of how the dinosaur might have lived.
Youll learn that although thousands of fossils have been discovered
in Dinosaur Provincial Park, this find was special. Complete, articulated
skeletons of meat-eating dinosaurs are rare, but as the weeks passed,
more and more bones were found. Foot bones, rib ends, hip bones, arm
bones, a tail, and a set of gaping jaws were all uncovered.
Once the skeleton was completely uncovered, it was moved to the Royal
Tyrell Museum where technicians spent over five years preparing it
for display. Next time youre passing through Albertas
badlands, stop at the museum and see the Albertosaurus for yourself. |

| I thought
the book was well-designed with many facts throughout and a little
story within the topic. I thought the topic was interesting because
I am interested in dinosaurs and it gave me lots of new facts. What
I liked the most about the book were all the facts. What I liked
the least was it was slow getting started.
I learned that they can excavate bones
that are only a few millimetres in size and that it is rare to find
complete Theropod skeletons. The book kept me entertained from front
to back. I found it hard to put down. The photos and drawings were
greatthey really gave you a better visual image. Overall,
I thought the book was given a lot of thought. I would give it an
8 out of 10, and if I had to describe it in just one word, it would
be fantastic.
