The only real problem with the Kingfisher
Science Encyclopedia is that it slips into the annoying habit
of using the unpopular U.S. measuring system. But to its credit
there is a conversion table in the back and a guide to numbers and
units of measurement.
Aside from that, this encyclopedia is a
handy one to have around. Its divided into ten thematic sections
that tackle a specific area of scientific interest and study. Biology,
chemistry, geologyall the scientific disciplines are covered
with nods to influential scientists and handy timelines for budding
historians. Most significant are the solid and simple explanations
for difficult concepts. The book is also delightfully illustrated.
While it might be pricey, finding the answer to a burning scientific
question is easy with the Kingfisher Science Encyclopedia. A worthy
addition to any library!
